Clear the Dragon Nest
Recommended Level: 8-12
Required Preparation: Access to Poison Resist/Immunity
Recommended Preparation: Access to Fear, Confusion, and Paralysis Resist/Immunity
The objective of this quest is simple: head to the green dragon nest just outside of Alaria’s walls, a few maps east. Kill all of the green dragons within to complete the bounty. There are no puzzles, extensive map sets, or hidden walls here. Just one large map with a good old fashioned combat challenge. If you’re new to the game, consider waiting until level 10 or 12 to try to clear this dungeon, though the suggested level of 8 is absolutely achievable.
Fighting Green Dragons comes with two main threats: handling their fear spells, and their poison spells. Do not take on these creatures at low levels unless you have a way of handling their poison at the very least. Commonly available items that can help you deal with their poison include the Green Dragonscale Shield and Potions of Slow Poison (Poison Resist), or the Serpent Helm (Poison Immunity). There are also spells and potions that cure the poison status, but these can be frustrating to use as there is no “cooldown” preventing you from being immediately re-poisoned. If your character is capable have taking a lot of damage, you can get away without a way to handle the fear. However the fear status condition is generally annoying and may be worth preparing for anyways. The easiest way to do this is to bring a couple potions of bravery, which provide a major bonus to fear resist. You won’t be immune, but it should be enough to remove the most of the headache of the status effect. There is also one brown dragon that you should be wary of, which casts confusion, fear, and paralysis spells in addition to hitting harder with melee attacks than the green dragon does. Bring a potion of Free Action to resist it’s paralysis, and consider having a way to dispel confusion if you are a character that can’t take much damage. Note: You do NOT need to clear the golems located in the hole in the back of the cave.
