Wyvern has a total of eight races, with more in the works. These are Human, Halfling, Elves, Pixies, Nagas, Rakshasas (The Cats), and Giants. These races can also have sub-races. Elves have three sub-races. These are Wood Elves, High Elves, and Dark Elves. Rakshasas have four sub-races. These are Panther, Lion, TIger, and Leopard. Finally, the Giants also have a total of four sub-races. These being Stone, Fire, Storm, and Frost. All races have Male and Female versions.
 
  
  
Which race you pick matters greatly. You can find detailed information here on the wiki about what each racial bonus is. Giants, Dwarves, Tiger sub-race and Lion sub-race are the easiest to play. This is because they have one or multiple of these three things: Hit Points; Magic Resistances; Physical Resistances.
 
  
  
I highly recomend that you choose one of these as a starting player. They will make your life easier as you will die a lot less. Once you learn the game more you can make a new character with a harder playstyle!

I highly discourage choosing Naga or Pixie. Both have very unique mechanics that make them harder to play for the newer players. These unique mechanics being flight (the pixie is also very weak physically at first)  and transformations. If you do decide to choose one of these two you should definitely ask a lot of questions using the shout command (more on this later.)

You have just saved Begynne Town! Good job making it this far. First thing you are gonna want to do is remember where that blue board is. That's the mission board and will help guide you through your first few levels in Wyvern. Think of it as an extended tutorial. It's important to complete these quests because you will need the quest points to continue leveling up.
  
  
While making your character, don't worry too much about a "class" (They are called guilds in Wyvern.) Develop a "soft" idea that can be changed later. Mainly, you should try to decide how your character will fight. Do you want to make a mage, igniting enemies in an extraordinary blaze of molten havok? Or would a mighty paladin be more your fancy, smiting thy enemies with a monstrous slash of thy greatsword? Give this some consideration.

Now that you have chosen a race, it's time to make a name! Please, no profanity and the like. Your character will be deleted permanently (no name change...just gone) and all of your progress lost. It is prefered that you choose a fantasy name, but you can use your online handle or even something funny!

Now the first recommendation I have is, before even starting a new mission, is to thoroughly explore New Verdan. You don't have to go into every house and shop. I just want you to get a good feel for where things are. Find the magic shop, training hall, adventurers guild, newbie house, general store, and blacksmith. These are the most important. If we want to survive in Wyvern, we need to talk about healing. There is a great guide [[Healing and Recovery - A Beginners Guide]]. That's a bit complicated for our current purposes, but it's an amazing read once we want to start optimizing our character and healing.

For now, when we are just learning to play, we have three options. The healing skill (yeah, the one we got in the tutorial), spell healing (as in the minor healing spell), or rod healing.
  
  
Let's start from the top and work our way down!

Forget about rod healing for now. It's gonna cost us a bit of gold and we don't have that yet. We need to look at the healing skill and spell healing.
  
  
First we have a bunch of bars at the top of the screen, with numbers in them.

''Healing Skill'': Okay, initially healing is great. Certainly so with the early monsters. As you start fighting harder and harder enemies, you will have to duck away and give yourself time to heal. This, in my own opinion, is such a fun suck. I personally went this route for my early days in Wyvern and it was absolutely annoying. My personal recommendation is to keep the one point in it from the tutorial and use it to supplement spell healing.
The first, tan, bar is your food meter. Yes, you must eat to survive in Wyvern!

The middle, Grey, bar is how much you are carrying and your maximum weight. After your carry weight reaches max, you will move slower. This does not affect combat. As you continue to pick up more things, you will eventually be unable to move. Please be careful that this doesn't happen to you during combat and only loot after battle.

''Spell Healing'': I got some bad news for you. It's a mechanic called [[Bungling]] . If you read through everything in game up to this point, it tells you that you should probably grab the minor heal spell. What it doesn't tell you is that fancy armor you start with is going to make your spell fail fairly often. This is very counter-intuitive in my opinion. The armor isn't going to do much for you anyway, so don't worry when I say TAKE IT OFF. Yup, that's right. Unwear it. If it's not cloth it will affect your ability to heal, and right now that heal is going to save your life more times than you will be able to count. Get a point of lore and a point meditation. You can find the trainers on the first floor of the magic shop.
  
Next is your xp bar. This will tell you how much you need to get to the next level, and will fill from gray to green as you get closer!
 
  
  
The red bar is your hp. This displays your max as well as your current hp.

Okay, to recap this section, I recommend that you take one point in each of the three skills: Healing, Meditation, and Lore. Once you do that, go to the second floor of the magic shop and buy a Minor Healing Spellbook. It will cost 250gp but that is a small price to pay. Tap the book within your inventory and select read. You now know your first spell! To use it, I suggest you use the smart heal button on your hud. This looks like a potion. Now you are set to survive.
Finally is the mana bar. This is the blue bar under your xp. This will be drained as you cast spells.

Now onto the many different icons litering your screen:

The top left button is the "Commands" button. All of the commands found within can also be used with the next button, but are found here for new players. One that I find myself using a lot from this list is the "Skills" command. This will tell you what your current skills are. Very useful.

On the top right is your "Send Command" button. Whenever anybody tells you to "Type blahblahblah" this is where you type it. You will use this more than you think, so get used to where it is positioned.
+
Below your "Commands" button on the left is the "Social" button. This will allow you choose a number of channels to type in, friend other players, see who is online, and more! A lot of these are on your button bar, as I will explain when we get there.

On the right, below the "Send Commands" button, is your "Examine Self", "Shrink/Grow" (if a Giant), (*I assume naga and pixies also have a use for this button other than examining self... please let me know Vets!*) This works the same as tapping yourself. It will give your name, race, class, level, and (alignment) on the first line. The second, third, and fourth are pretty self explanatory. The fifth line will tell you how many more quest points you need to reach the next level milestone. This is what will drive you to do quests. The sixth line is self explanatory, you use these to learn skills. Next, depending on your race, you will have a number of lore points. These are spent on spells. Following that, you have warning points and shout points. Warning points are for ganging up on trolls so that they can be punished. Shout points are designed for when there are a good amount of players online, so that the chat doesn't get spammed. Finally, you have your food level in text, 100 starter crowns (which will be explained later), and account crowns if you have purchased any... I am going to assume you haven't yet.

Next, below your "Social" button the left is your missions button. This will tell you what missions you are currently on, and what your active one is. There are only 7 quests that have been converted to missions at the time of this writing. The rest will be converted to missions later!

Underneath the "Examine Self/Transform/Hand Icon" to the right is your "Firepad" button. This can be used for precise aiming when you need it! The tutorial will explain more. It's also important to note that if you do not have anything "Ready" for use with the firepad, it can be used for movement.

Next we have the "Look/Examine" button on the left. It's the eyeball looking button. What this will do is pull up a menu to see what is underneath your hero. Useful for when there is a stack of items. You can also drag it to make a cursor appear. You can drag this cursor onto things to see what they are from afar. This can be useful for when you see a new big enemy and you don't know what it is.

Under your "FirePad" button is your "Ready" button. This will check what you have equiped or readied from your inventory for things to use with the firepad. I honestly don't think anyone uses this, but it may be easier for new players. Maybe archers or people with mutiple magical wands?

Next, back to the left is your "Smart Heal" button. This is the third most useful button! What this will do is cast your healing spells, drink mana potions, drink potions of cure poison, etc. to return your character to near perfect condition. This button is so smart, it will cycle through wands that are on cooldown, and even dig through your bags to find what you need to heal. When anyone says "Spam Healing" this is what they mean.

On the right again, we have your "Spells" button. This is pretty self explanatory and pretty useful. This will bring up a list of all of your known spells!

Last one on the left! Whoo! This is the "Game" button, and shaped like a W. From here you can quit, mute sounds, enter more settings, and a range of other stuff.

Last on the right, and the final one of the on-screen buttons! This is your inventory button. Touch this to open the inventory.

Whew... that was a lot of information. I hope it helped. Below the game screen we have what is called the button bar. This is an incredibly useful little thing. After you get acquanted with the game a bit more, I HIGHLY recommend learning how to edit it. There is a guide here on the wiki that will teach you how to do so. It's important to note that you can slide it to access more buttons, hold a button to bring a list of commands, and that you can have more than the number it starts you with.

Finally, under the button bar, you have your chat. Personally I think the font is too big, so I go into the settings and shrink it.

Now we can move on to the game! Yay!

As soon as you spawn, your chat bar will be bombarded with messages. The first bit that you can't see is just standard server connection messages and a brief of your character. Ignore these. Saana will be talking to you. She will be your guide through most of the tutorial. Please read her messages as she will teach you about the game!

First thing she will ask you to do is loot the chest, and she will explain how to do so. Don't worry about equiping these items or what they are too much. The game will auto-equip them for you, so no worries!
+
Next, Saana will explain how to chat and what the different channels are. I will also give a brief description of each so that you have a reference point.
+
 
+
 
+
Say channel: This will speak to those in your immediate area. I believe it's just within screen distance but may be the whole map. You can use the "say" command to access.
+
 
+
 
+
Tell channel: This will speak directly to the person you want no matter where they are in Wyvern, as long as they are online. You can use the "tell -playername-" command to access.
+
 
+
 
+
Shout channel: This will speak to everyone within the world of Wyvern, so everyone can hear you! You can use the "shout" command to access this.
+
 
+
 
+
After learning about communication, Saana will explain that the town is under attack! Hurry outside and follow her across the bridge. The kobolds will immediately start attacking you. Don't worry about them too much as they are super easy. However, this is a great time to explain combat a little better than what the tutorial does.
+
 
+
 
+
Combat takes place in real time. Each second you will attack a certain number of times, and so will the enemy. Without going into too much detail, everything also has resistances to damage types and magic. This is how damage is determined. When you are surrounded, you can tap (or click if using the emulator on the computer) to choose a target. Otherwise, your character will attack the first target to hit him after an enemy dies.

Defeat the kobolds and loot their bodies. This can be done by moving on top of the body, then tapping yourself. Alternatively, you can use the eyeball icon while standing on the body. After looting them, Saana will beckon you to go to the shop to learn how to sell stuff. Follow her instructions. *IMPORTANT* On my device (Galaxy S5) the "Sell All" button that Saana instructs you to use never appears for me. This is the #7 button on your button bar.

After learning about the shop, Saana wants you to accompany her to the blacksmith, Hans, place to learn how your firepad works. Follow her instructions and talk to Hans. It seems he has a rat problem. I guess he spends too much time making weapons and not enough time learning to use them. He should take lessons from Will Turner. Pirates reference aside, he will give you a key to his backyard. Follow your golden quest marker and pick up the wand. You are gonna want to open your inventory, select the wand, and choose ready. Now you can use the wand to blast all of those rats at once! Don't worry if you step into your own fire. You are immune to your own spells... Thank goodness! Well, those pesky rats have been melted. Hans doesn't even thank you! The tutorial continues.

Next, she will guide you to the l to learn about skills and to obtain the Healing Skill. What healing does is grant you passive hit point regeneration. It's a great skill for new players! Later, it becomes nearly useless for most types of characters as you will need a stronger more immediate form of healing... but for now it will be good for you to learn. To boot, it only costs 1gp! Can't beat that! Learn the skill and she will request that you follow her to where you can exit the tutorial.

Now Saana leads you to the bank to learn how to protect your money. Follow her instructions and you will find that you already have 500 gold coins in the bank. SWEET! You can leave these here or withdraw them all now. Continue to follow Saana and your golden quest markers.
+
Uh oh! The teleporter to New Verdan is busted! The culprit? Those pesky goblins! The cave is at the top right (North East) of Begynne town. Saana makes a nicely places Skyrim reference and says you must go alone. Too bad, I am sure she is strong enough to take them out if she wanted... and seemed to have no problem helping with the kobolds earlier. Logic aside, she also warns of a bugbear in the cave.

Personally, I have never had problems with it, but maybe a physically weaker race like the pixie could have trouble with it. Worst case scenario, blast it with that wand you acquired earlier. If he chunks you down, run a few spaces away and let your healing skill get you up to 6 and jump back into combat for a second. You can't be killed outright, and must be brought to 1 hp first. (*Keep in mind that there are enemies that can attack multiple times! This is a tip for your first few levels. I'd say roughly level 10 and depending on what you are fighting*) Don't skip the treasure pile on the north side of the gave for a little gold boost and grab the orb. Return the orb to the teleporter to finally enter New Verdan!

You will warp in between the hospital and the chapel on the south end of the town. Go north and the first building on your left is the Adventurer's Guild. Inside you will find the quest board, which will be your starting point in Wyvern. Touching the quest board will end the Begynne Town quest!

This section is for new players. The point of this section is to answer some starting questions, increase your survivabilty, and help you with your build!
+
 
+
 
+
1. First thing, choose a form of healing. There is a wonderfully written guide here on the wiki, however I feel that this guide does not stress a few points. First of all, the further into the game you get the less the healing skill is useful. I recommend switching to one of the other forms of healing around 15-20... Even the hardiest of players will need to switch or supplement their healing skill with something else by level 22. The other options are Rod Healing and Spell Healing. Rod Healing is very expensive, but Spell Healing requires skill points and specific gear. As for Rod Healing, I think you can make due with some Medium Healing Rods, but you should look at getting Major Healing as soon as you can. Rods do cost mana, so you will also need Potion of Lesser Mana to spam your smart heal button. For spell healing, you should look at getting Medium and Major healing spells, as well as 7 incantation to reduce the cost to nearly nothing.

2. More important than getting a good weapon and armor is investing in some potions. The most important of these are "Potion of Fire/Shock/Cold Endurance"... recently ran into a mage that just melted you with his Firespray spell? Yeah, these will help you. It's also imperative to buy a few "Potion of Stone to Flesh" because being petrified guaranteed death in 10 seconds without one. Enough time to drink a potion. You can use the "Drink All" command (prefferably on the hotbar to quickly rebuff) to drink your buff potions. This will drink: Cold/Fire/Shock/Petrification Endurance, Speed, Strength, Free Action, Bravery, and Regeneration. Very useful!

3. When allocating skill points: Spells Healing> Weapon> Find Weakness> Merchant (If you want it)... Find Weakness hits a sweet spot at 10. It's good to get to 20 fast, but 10 is more important. Your weapon skill should always be equal to your level until you get to max attack speed. Usually this is around 30 depending on race/weapon combo. Then you don't need to worry about immediately training it after a level up, but it's still a good idea. Spell healing should not be put on the back burner if you choose this healing route. You will save yourself a lot of deaths, and even more mana potions if you invest early. I always think survivability>damage (unless damage = survivability... Dark Elf Ninja O.O looking at you.)

4. Don't try to sell your quivers/reagent/scroll tube/bags in the auction hall. New players really can't afford them, they are mostly very guild specific, and anyone that needs them is better off finding them than paying the extraordinarily high price for what they do. Most people won't tell you this bit of information, and just let you waste time by letting them sit in the Auction Hall. Much better to just sell them to the shop, because they usually sell for max (2k without vip or merchant skill.)

5. As far as gear goes, check the wiki for the best gear in slot. Dragon Scale Mail (Without +agi) is generally cheap 35k - 45k depending on which you want (Tiny or Large increases the price so buy normal size and adjust with a scroll.) Try to avoid buying Gauntlets of Power from the shop. They are almost always up for sale in the Minath Auction Hall. I highly recommend, depending on race of course, buying a brown dsm. These give paralysis and fear resist. Mages can only equip gold dsm, and ninja can also equip a silver dsm as well as the gold.

6. Mages are the cheapest to build, because they do not rely on any pots (depending on build... obviously a fire/shock mage will still need cold resist pots) other than lesser healing. Next would be anyone using spell healing. This is because, as explained in tip 1, rod healing is VERY expensive. To use an example: My Dark Elf Ninja uses 20 rods of major healing (almost 1mil worth of rods) and STILL must CHUGGGGG potions of lesser mana to fight a caco demon (At the least, 20 potions.) This is a stark contrast to my Dwarf Palladin. To fight a caco demon, he only needs to drink two potions of lesser mana. In a 20 floor run on the Ninja, I burn 600 potions of lesser mana VERY fast. He doesn't have optimal mana shield, so this will improve later. On the Palladin, I use about 30-50.
